Guáimaro, Camagüey, April 29th. - Educational and health authorities in the municipality of Guáimaro, in the province of Camagüey, work together on the prevention of contagious diseases and Sexually Transmitted Infections (ITS) in the new generations. Its main objective is to promote responsible sex education and to promote safe practices among young people.
Inadequate intimate behaviors are a risk factor, especially in adolescence, a stage at which many do not assume their intimate decisions and relationships with due responsibility. This increases vulnerability to possible health complications.
To address this problem, the institutions involved carry out various actions aimed at the new generations. Among them are the educational talks given in schools by health specialists and community promoters, who visit educational centers to provide information, clarify doubts and promote healthy behaviors.
In addition, the importance of home education is recognized, as at home fundamental values are instilled and adolescents’ss; capacity to make responsible decisions about their sex lives are strengthened. The participation of families in these processes is key to enhancing a responsible attitude that protects both young people and their partners and families.
